One Month Later
Silicone gel breast implants tend to contract or "scar in" over time. We see this frequently with the older models. The process is insidious so most women do not realize 20 years later that things have changed.

This woman had been told that her mammogram revealed that her silicone gel breast implants (placed 20 years earlier) had ruptured. She was anxious about the process and a bit more so when Dr D told her that the implants had probably been ruptured for years.

At surgery, her old ruptured implants were removed and the scar capsules along with them. Newer cohesive gel (gummy bear) implants were placed in the newly renovated pockets. She came to be very pleased with the new shape of her breasts surprised that she had not realized earlier how things had changed.

OPERATIVE STATISTICS:

Before: Ruptured Breast Implants With Mild Contracture. Her left breast appears "raised" by the scarring.

After: Improved Volume, Shape and Symmetry.

Operative Design: The older model ruptured breast implants were removed along with their scar capsules allowing a re-design of her implant pockets. Newer generation cohesive gel breast implants of a similar size were placed.
